This is a piece I made to donate to the Draper Senior Center. I believe they will sell tickets to raffle it off soon. I threw it on a pottery wheel from about 4 pounds of clay. The wall is split so that a portion of clay is saved near the center to make the cup. The platter is about 13 inches wide. Plenty of room for chips, cheese, crackers, etc. A lady who purchased one told me she was going to fill the platter with strawberries and fill the cup with a sweet sour cream sauce. Now I can't look at it without getting hungry.

It's Time For Soup
It's time to have soup and salad with a $12 purchase of a fabulous handmade ceramic soup bowl made by yours truly and members of my clay class. We've all worked very hard to make this happen. The date is Saturday, November 5 at the Draper Senior Center (Utah) starting at 11am. All ages are welcome,

Catching up
Since Blogger changed some things, I've had trouble keeping up with this blog. Then Clustermaps lost all my data of visitors from around the world.....ugh. So since this is on my business card, I will make an effort to maintain this.
Meanwhile, the soup bowl fundraiser was a great success. Thank you to all the local Utahns that came by to participate. I was ready to be lazy for the holidays in the beginning of December but I got invited to do a Christmas market at a church. No booth fee; lucky me! No potters had signed up and they wanted variety for their event. So I was forced out of my lazy mode and hustled to make a batch of snowflakes to add to existing inventory. I would do that event again only if it was free. Table fees are too high to make it worthwhile otherwise. And now we are in May! Saturday is the day....rain or shine....hopefully shine! I'll be under the pavilion in spot #3. Come visit if only to say hi!

Soup Bowls With A View
The deadline for making soup bowls for a fund raiser for the Draper Senior Center is swiftly approaching. This year, I've had a few requests for larger bowls and soup mugs. I've got to glaze all these and make at least 20 more. I'll definitely have to put in more hours to make this happen. Nothing like a deadline to get me moving faster.

Outside with the old
This is my first attempt ever at making a mug. A little wonkie I'd say but it does hold water despite the large glaze blisters inside. I had the right idea about stamping the bottom even 8 years ago. Since I need to make room for new and improved pottery, this piece will be relegated to the garden. It's good to keep that first piece for awhile and take note of style changes and hopefully progress.
