Tech Wreck Makes A Keeper

I finally figured out how to use Blogger again. It acted flaky on my old iPad but works well on a Windows laptop after hours of messing with it. In the meantime, I did create a Mom Cave Pottery page on Facebook since almost everybody has got one of those. But now I'm told by my tech savvy children that I need an Instagram! Instead of setting up an Instagram account, I made this very red garlic keeper for a friend. Much more fun getting my hands muddy, than typing and clicking.

Not Fazed by a Vase

While a friend of mine was making this vase, a well meaning instructor, without permission, used the piece to demonstrate the stamping and carving of the flowers. Since the piece no longer had my friends "style", she abandoned it, saying it no longer felt like hers. About a year passed and the vase was brought over to my clay class. Since this time a year is a good time to donate pieces to the center to raise funds, especially with Christmas just around the corner, I gladly glazed it and passed it on. Sure to be seen at a fundraiser near you, if you live in Draper, Utah, that is.

Party Platter

This is a piece I made to donate to the Draper Senior Center. I believe they will sell tickets to raffle it off soon. I threw it on a pottery wheel from about 4 pounds of clay. The wall is split so that a portion of clay is saved near the center to make the cup. The platter is about 13 inches wide. Plenty of room for chips, cheese, crackers, etc. A lady who purchased one told me she was going to fill the platter with strawberries and fill the cup with a sweet sour cream sauce. Now I can't look at it without getting hungry.
